Nyx is full of wonderful creatures, some with far to much intelligence to be "adopted" per say. Vampires, fey and demons are classes in their own right. Here is everything anyone could want to know about the humanoid inhabitants on Nyx.

Demons;
Demons are the opposite of the Feyfolk, while Fey or Faeries are purely made up of light energy, demons are made up of the dark or evil energy, not to say that all demons are evil, just 99.999% of them. They are pure energy not taking any form on occasions they have no real substance, or even blood. They may bleed their essence if cut deep enough. Not that you'd want to try. Demons take a thousand ugly forms, just to scare us or put us off. The uglier and scarier the demon the more powerful it is. They have the power, like most beings of energy to disperse then reappear before our very eyes. They are tricksy creatures; you have to summon them to get any work done. They are bound to the will of their masters, the will of who ever summons them. Iron will burn them, silver to them is agonizing. You need to know a demons name, they will often have many names, some have hundreds, though you only need to know one to get it to do your bidding. However they have one true name, it's a closely guarded secret, but if you do find it out you will have ultimate control over the sorry creature. Only beings of energy or essence have true names. Creatures of flesh, blood and bone do not.

Demon halflings.
Demon halflings, are the offspring of a demon and a human. They are rare but not unheard of. The human counter part, in most of the cases is the mother. It is rare for the mother of a halfling to survive. Halflings tend to be chaotic in nature, though not in the same way the shapeshifters are. Halflings are blood and bone but have the ability to change into pure essence as it weir. They can take the guise of most things, though will always have their own strengths and weaknesses, the don't transform they just take the mask of that particular animal. Halflings are very dangerous. Silver and Iron will irritate them. Though it won't pain them in the same way it would a demon. They are both more and less powerful then demons. They are harder to detect, metal doesn't harm them, to a degree, and their true name doesn't have much effect. But they will never have the raw power a demon has. Quarter demons are similar to halflings except they are much less powerful and both their true names and metal had less of an effect. The offspring of a demon and a half demon would be an almost pure demon in the fact it would be a creature of dark energy, or essence if you prefer. Again they would be less powerful than a full demon. Anything less than a quarter demon would be practically human.

Elementals
They are humans gifted with the power of the elements. Often it's randomly given at birth. Sometimes it's given as a gift by a spirit elemental. They will have a huge amount of control over one element. Though they will never be as powerful as a spirit elemental. Often they can be quite wild their powers are very hard to tame. Their are 7 elements. Earth, water, Fire air, Light, Darkness and Grey. Grey is the rarest and most my mysterious, it has to be attained rather than gifted. Though it almost always comes from someone who has had to battle the light and dark forces within them. A child of a light and dark elementals often have the ability to become grey though many of them have died trying to achieve it. Though it will often cancel out any other element, if a gifted elemental attains it. It will weaken the other element in the process.

Spirit Elementals
They are beings of essence. Their essence being the very element they belong to. Very powerful, they are immortal unless they are killed. Spirit elementals are very difficult to kill. Unless your a spirit elemental of the opposite element that is. Their weak point is the opposite element. When weakened their auras will react to each other, this is a safety defence. As they are essence you can summon them to do your bidding, however they are not recommended they are far too human. They can take any form they like. Though they do, like shapeshifters have a true form, though unlike shapeshifters their true form will always be their element. Grey spirit elementals are ludicrously rare, and have no opposite element, making them stronger and far more powerful than any of the other spirit elementals. Silver will harm them, Iron will not.

The Fey folk
The opposite of demons they are made up of purely light energy. Like demons they all have true names, though they are generally much smarter and tricksier than demons. Watch your commands don't get twisted into something they are not. The fey have a long memory and can keep a grudge for many a millennia. The fey can range anything from 6 inches to 6 feet. Their forms always have a strange unnatural beauty to them. Their eyes always black. The fey often in corporate animal and human parts together. They have a complicated hierarchy each "court" having many fey within. Each "court" is ruled by a queen and king the Queen having much more say then the King. There is two main classifications for "courts" Unseelie for the courts made up of darker fey. (Even though they are made up of light energy doesn't mean their energies cannot be tainted) and Seelie if made up of mostly pure fey. Neighbouring courts often war causing chaos and havoc when they do so. Unseelie courts have a huge liking for tricking mortals, enchanting their food, messing with their mind sometimes even leading them to dance. When the spell is broken the mortal can find that many years have past. Nyxia prohibits all fey dancing except on midsummer night. Seelie courts are still not the most trust worthy of things. Though once you have earned the trust of either court, you'll have protection for life.

Fey Halflings
Similar to demon halflings, except for the fact these strange creatures are known as Changelings in many parts of Nyx, beware of them, the Unseelie Courts delight in stealing away newborn babies and leaving these creatures in it's place. The best way to keep the tainted fey at bay, it to leave bundles of Rowan around the newborns cot, along with salt along the windowsill and along the door frame. Since it's traditional in Nyx not to name a child until it's seventh day. Many mothers go all out to protect their children. The halflings themselves cannot, like their demon counterparts transform into pure essence, they stay flesh and bone, though they do have some animal like qualities, they often have odd eyes, a tail, pointy ears, a hunched back, they always have long hair, they don't seem to cope well with the combination of the ageless fey and the mere mortal. Their hair can grow six inches a day. Their offspring to a human would diminish their fey characteristics even more, a further generation would see them disappear altogether. A halfling and a fey would be almost a fey, though with some human characteristics. Two halflings together would be another halfling. There was records of a demon/fey cross, though they were quickly dismissed...

Lycans
Lycans are a subspecies of human, most people carry the gene for lycanism, it will lay dormant in the cells until activated by the saliva in a lycan's bite. Lycans or werewolves as they are more commonly known, will still be people inside, once activated the gene will take over during a moment of stong emotion, or when the slight gravity of the full moons pull it to the surface. They can be very unstable at times, this has often lead to them being destroyed. Their is a cure for Lycanism; but it must be administered before the newly bitten's first moon. It's a mixture of wolfs-bane and silver, silver coating the cells in which the gene is most active. Silver is a fey metal and is attracted to magic, often coating the magic in some way that prevents it from being used. Lycans can however be tamed, it just takes alot of work. Unlike animals who chose to accept their human form, who change with magic, the magic almost looks like a shimmery mirage, like the heat on a hot day, in their human form, their clothes will match their pelt, like shapeshifters. Werewolves however mutate, meaning when they change back... Well you don't really want to be near one.

Shapeshifters.
Some of the most infamous residents of Nyx, as long as their has been Nyx, their has been shapeshifters, it is considered their home realm, for no-one can remember where they came from originally. They do however reside in many realms. A shapeshifter, is not, like most people think, invincible. They take the strengths and weaknesses of what ever they change into. Shapeshifters are very chaotic, themselves being in constant turmoil. Shapeshifters have seven true forms, ones that come naturally to them; they can turn into anything they want; providing they can imagine it correctly, if not they mutate slightly and it's often hard to turn back. Their first true form is the one their born with; usually human. Though every shapeshifter has a true, true form one that is purely them. It will be unique to everyone else, just as every person, or shapeshifter is unique. It's easier for a shapeshifter to turn into something similar to one of their true forms, turning from a mammal to a cold blooded creature is harder then going from mammal to mammal. Also shapeshifters cannot go straight from say a mouse to an elephant, it's to great a change. They can't turn into plants, unless they want to remain that way, unable to change back. Shapeshifters are noted for being chaotic, untameable, wild an violent. But that's their nature and the more powerful they are, the more chaotic they are. Shapeshifters, if they change to fast,or attempt something to big for them can lose their humanity, turning into vicious animals, all shapeshifters that lose their humanity are usually destroyed.

Vampires.
Vampires as many would tell you are stone cold dead. They feed on blood to keep themselves alive, this blood must be of the same species and of a compatible blood type to what they once were, otherwise they become sick. Vampires take many decades to mature, the average is around a century, during that time they are known as 'fledgings'. Fledgling vampires are not as agile as the adult vampires, they don't have their adult teeth, nor do they react in sunlight badly.Vampires are not any stronger than an average human, though, their muscles cannot strain themselves like a humans could. They can however be faster when driven mad by thirst. Vampires eyes pale the thirstier they get. Vampires eyes are only suitable for night time hunting, if vmapires are out during the day they will get vicious agoning migraines due to their eyes not coping well with the light. Also as protection against the sun, vampire skin is quite fragile due to being dead, they get a flaky ashy covering over their skin to protect it from the harsh rays of the sun.

Zombies
Zombies are very strange creatures they exist only when the soul of the dead body is so determined not to die that they re inhabit the body, however the body is still dead. Most zombies hate the term and prefer "re-animated corpses" that's if you can get one of these rotting fiends to speak to you. Most seem very much "out of it" Perhaps that's something to do with the fact they lose may thousands of braincells a day due to their rotting.
